It's June already?

Monday
1,200 yd swim
Felt good and strong on this one! Did 100 warmup, 1000 straight through, 100 cooldown

2 mi evening walk

Tuesday
6.25 mi @ 9:04/mi avg
Early neighborhood run to avoid the workday craziness - solid meetings 9am to 5pm!

3.25 mi Hawaiian Shirt Night at Rockers Run Club
"Hawaiian Vacation Dad"

Wednesday
3.14 mi @ 10:19/mi Global Running Day
Third year in a row celebrating GRD at Run In with my bestest little dude running buddy!

Thursday
2.12 mi @ 11:25/mi
First run of the summer routine - post-drop-off in Cleveland Park with the pup!

Friday
2 mi ruck 20#
Opted for a ruck today instead of run, not sure if Ivy is up for back-to-back running days quite yet!

We did a small trail section on the Fernwood Nature Trail

9.7 mi bike ride
Wanted to get more miles than this but time and my bike were both not on my side. Somehow shifted into the large front ring and then couldn't downshift (a later trip to Sunrift would reveal that the spring in my front derailleur broke!). So I decided I should not venture onto actual roads with traffic and stuck to the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Saturday
2.45 mi pup ruck 20#
Took Ivy out for some miles before the day got too hot.

7.33 mi Cottonmouth Beerlay - solo
Third year in a row doing the solo Cottonmouth Beerlay. While I was faster this year, I only managed a 4th place finish (vs. 2nd last year) due to more competition entering the field. Bonus this year though was getting to run the last lap with Super D!
Ivy waited patiently during the race - it was too hot for her to run.

Sunday
12.7 mi gravel bike ride
Long Run Adventures - biking edition! The LRA crew as exploring the Peak to Prosperity passage of the Palmetto Trail today, so D and I decided to explore by bicycle! The trail was super straight and flat gravel but had lots of old train trestle bridges that were really cool to cross!
LRA crew!

So cool!

🐢

Again, despite a busy crazy schedule, managing to do what I can most days and keep the momentum going forward!

Rainnnn to start then beautiful!

Monday
10.25 mi trail run
After dropping the kiddo off, I headed up to Asheville for some much-needed trail time! I was a bit worried about the storms that were still lingering around, but managed to time it right and get onto the trail just after some rain had moved through. Selected a loop that starts right at the Blue Ridge Parkway just outside of Biltmore Park, follows the Mountains-to-Sea trail to the south for several miles, then turns back towards Lake Powhatan through Bent Creek to get back to the trailhead. This turned out to be a fantastic loop! Crazy amount of climbing and stairs at the very beginning, but the rest was incredibly runnable single- and double-track.

Ready to go!

Sleepy Gap

Felt amazing through the whole run, despite the annoying bee that chased me for the last 2 miles (uphill, of course).

Tuesday
6.23 mi @ 10:32/mi avg
Today's run is called: "I should have run in the morning instead of the thunderstorm". But rain run it was, and despite some GI distress 💩 I got the miles and the rain was actually the least unpleasant part of the experience! 😂

Wednesday
21.1 mi ride @ 14.1 mph
Finally made it back to Cowpens Battlefield for a post-work ride! Just some steady loops with a goal of 15-20 miles total. Made it to the full race distance!

Thursday
Rest / 1 mile walk to dinner
I could tell towards the end of yesterday's ride that my legs needed a break. Some scheduling conflicts with work and other things made this a good choice for rest! I did walk to dinner downtown with my parents but that was about it!

Friday
2 mi walk
Friend AE arrived in town to stay for the weekend (as a surprise for another friend's birthday celebration!) and she drove 8 hours, so we took a nice long evening walk before dinner!

Saturday
9.74 mi @ 10:13/mi
Ran from home to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe to meet the gal pals for breakfast and coffee! Was warm and sunny, worked up a sweat, but took it pretty chill pace.
Will Run 4 Cheesy Grits
3.4 mi stand-up paddleboard
AE and I decided to try out something new on the sunny Saturday afternoon - we rented stand-up paddleboards at Saluda Lake Landing and toodled about for a couple of hours. It was so fun! No pics because I didn't take my phone, but it was so lovely!

Sunday
5.7 mi hike
AE and M gathered for a morning hike at Table Rock State Park - we did Stool (💩) Mountain Trail and while the uphill was tough, the views were so worth it!

What a great week - bike time, trail time, water sports, and of course runs!
